God, Change My Diaper.
Reflections From Motherhood: From dirty to clean and new
I was changing my daughter's dirty diaper just before 2AM when I had a thought
Sometimes our mind, heart, and soul are like a dirty diaper:
full of urine and/or feces, that when left unchanged, have the likelihood of leading to infection (works of the flesh/ Gal 5:19-21)
Our loving and caring God, through the Holy Spirit, tries to change our diaper to make us clean again (Fruit of the Spirit/ Gal 5:22-23)
But like a baby
We resist because we don't like the process
But
Like a baby
The process goes much smoother when we stay still (Psa 37:7, Psa 46:10, Exo 14:14) and let God do His Work (Deu 6:5)
God changes our mind, heart, and soul, like a loving parent changes their baby's diaper (Pro 3:5-6)
From dirty to clean and new
And, like a baby’s diaper being changed from dirty to clean and new, the renewal of our mind, heart, and soul is not a one-time process, rather, ongoing
Like a potty trained child growing out of their need for diapers, we too, grow spiritually, gaining the ability to recognize, acknowledge, and repent of our ways
Turning once again towards our loving and caring Father knowing that in doing so, we are being sanctified by the power of the Holy Spirit to not be who we once were (2 Cor 5:17), but continue onto the path of righteousness with all glory to God
